“ER” is the television show which pushed George Clooney to become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. And he may be coming back to it for one night, to celebrate the end of the season. NBC will not only bring Clooney back, but his lover from the show too.

Julianna Margulies and Clooney have been playing a long-time love on “ER” and they may be tapping one of the scenes for this week’s medical drama end of season. The 47-year-old actor considers this “visit” on the show that made him famous as being a payback for the help it had been for him.

According to the rumors brought by unnamed sources to “Entertainment Tonight,” Clooney will shoot the scenes for the show on Thursday and Friday. The show even cited a confirmation saying that Margulies will certainly come back for some scenes of “ER.”

Yet, even if neither a spokesman for Clooney answered the calls nor the NBC spokesman confirmed the reports, the actor has been waited back on the show for a long time. His last appearance as Dr. Doug Ross was in May 2000, in what was Margulies' last episode. Still, he had left the show as a regular in February 1999.

In May 2000’s episode, Dr. Ross moved to Seattle and Carol Hathaway, played by Margulies, had bought a plane ticket to go to see him. Finally, the two met at the end of the show. The TV series are in their final season and along their way, cast from the early episodes came back to “ER” to pay some visits. Among them there were Anthony Edwards, Noah Wyle, Abraham Benrubi, Eriq LaSalle and Alex Kingston.

Clooney was among the first names brought up to discussion since the producers decided to bring the former cast members to say goodbye.
