Reality television starlets Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
have revealed that their super-secret wedding in Mexico
last week was symbolic and not legally binding but they do plan to take care of
the legal aspects once they return to the US.
“The Hills” couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt is
currently vacationing in Mexico
as husband and wife, after having spontaneously and discreetly married at the
One & Only Palmilla Resort, just outside Cabo San Lucas last week. They
invited no family and no friends and in fact did not even announce anyone they
had plans to tie the knot. It was a surprise for them as well apparently, as Us
Weekly, which reported their elopement, said the two decided to get married
while enjoying margaritas on the beach.
They exchanged vows that same day. The specific words they
lovingly murmured to each other, as well as photographs from the ceremony, details
regarding their wedding rings and Heidi Montag’s dress, are featured in Us
Weekly’s Wednesday edition, provided by the couple.
Pratt, 25, told the magazine they had a beautiful ceremony
in Cabo San Lucas and have never been happier. The photographs were taken by a
hotel photographer. Pratt added they would take care of the legal details once
they returned to the US.
Liz Gateley, executive producer for MTV’s “The Hills,” told
the network that the newlyweds would appear in upcoming episodes of the fifth
season. Exclusive footage from the wedding is to be shared with viewers in a
future episode, although it remained unclear whether the material was filmed by
the show or obtained from another source.
Montag’s father was taken by surprise when People magazine
contacted him and exclaimed that he had known nothing about a marriage but that
another wedding would have to take place so friends and family can participate
this time and rejoice in their nuptials.
Pratt and Montag, 22, have been a couple since 2006, with an
occasional temporary break-up. Less than a year ago, in December 2007, Montag
that she had broken off her engagement with Pratt. The separation was
short-lived though. “The Hills” has generously chronicled their relationship
and intends to continue this as the two have changed marital status.
Pratt and Montag, two of the most paparazzi-loving would-be celebrities
ever to roam the Earth, are inseparable and always eager to show themselves to
the world. The two frequently stage photo-shoots and bring their own props. Earlier
this summer, Pratt directed Montag’s first video for the song “Higher.”
The newlyweds are to appear on an episode of CBS sitcom “How
I Met Your Mother” in January, for fans to enjoy and cynics to knock down.
