Injured Misty May-Treanor "Steps Out" Of DWTS

According to "Dancing with the Stars'" contestant Brooke Burke, Misty May-Treanor, who sustained an injury on Friday during a rehearsal, will not make it back on the show, not this season anyway.

"It's such a sad situation. She did hurt her Achilles tendon. I don't know if she tore it or ruptured it," Brooke said on L.A.'s 104.3 FM. "She's out of the competition. Just like that, it's over for her."

The Olympic gold medalist received immediate treatment and according to a statement from the ABC show's producers, she was resting comfortably at home. However, it seems that her medical condition is "really serious" and she might have to undergo surgery in the upcoming days.

May-Treanor’s injury is the third so far this season — booted comedian Jeffrey Ross suffered a scratched cornea during rehearsal and pro Karina Smirnoff twisted her ankle just before the season seven premiere.

"The sad thing...this is her jumping mechanism," Burke added of the beach volleyball champ, 31. "We're all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don't know yet. It's such a bummer."

Although she started a little stiff, Misty May-Treanor had already stepped out as a "Dancing" star on the rise, constantly receiving 21 points out of 30 for the host of dances she performed with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

"I love your energy, I love what you put into it. You forget the finesse — you put so much power [that] sometimes you stumble a little bit. But you do a good job," judge Bruno Tonioli told her last week. Last month, May-Treanor revealed to People magazine she was having a hard time dancing in high heels, since she's mostly used to wearing Vans or flats.

As far as next week's elimination is concerned, Burke said the situation is uncertain yet because the number of shows has to stay the same. "I heard [Edyta Sliwinska] and [Maksim Chmerkovskiy] may dance together since both of their partners are gone, but I don't know what's going to happen," Burke added.

Dancer Derek Hough, who partners Burke on the show, also had a scare this past weekend. According to a report by MSNBC, Hough blacked out after hitting his head during a hard fall. Burke wrote on her blog about the incident, saying the two had an
"intense weekend" and they nearly "found ourselves out of the competition" due to Hough’s fall. And yet, not even an injury could take the dancer's mind off the show as he was assuring his partner that he would be ok to dance.

"Dancing with the Stars" producers are yet to confirm Brooke Burke's statement.
