I’m Not There Nominated for Four Spirit Awards

I’m No There, the movie about the life of legendary folk artist Bob Dylan was nominated for four Spirit Awards.

According to the Spirit Awards’ website, I’m Not There, which features Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere and four others playing incarnations of the enigmatic singer, was nominated for Best Feature, Supporting Actress, Supporting actor for child performer Marcus Carl Franklin and Best Director for Todd Haynes.

In the category Best Film the nominations went to A Mighty Heart, with Angelina Jolie as the wife of slain reporter Daniel Pearl, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, about paralyzed French author Jean-Dominique Bauby, Juno, a comedy about a pregnant teenager and to Paranoid Park about a teenage skateboarder. The latter three films also earned nominations for best director.

Angelina Jolie was nominated for Best Actress for her role in A Mighty Heart and she will compete against Ellen Page (Juno), Sienna Miller (Interview), Parker Posey (Broken English) and China's Tang Wei (Lust, Caution).

In the category Best Actor Don Cheadle was nominated for his role as a radio disc jockey in Talk To Me. Also nominated were Philip Seymour Hoffman (The Savages), Frank Langella (Starting Out in the Evening), Hong Kong veteran Tony Leung (Lust, Caution) and Pedro Castaneda (August Evening).

The Spirit Awards are open to movies that cost less than 20 million dollars to make and which played in theaters for a week or at a top festival.

The Spirit Awards will be given out February 23 in a ceremony that will air on the Independent Film Channel.
