Gary Coleman fans, beware! If you want to take a photo of
your favorite star and he says no, do not insist! You might as well end up hit
by a truck.
The former “Diff’rent Strokes” star hit a pedestrian with
his vehicle after the two quarreled in a local bowling alley, according to
police.
The argument was allegedly triggered by the fact that Colt
Rushton, apparently a fan of the 40-year-old actor, snapped a couple of photos
of Gary Coleman.
According to The Associated Press, Payson police Lt. Bill
Wright explained that the two men started to fight over the pictures early on
Saturday, while being inside of a bowling alley in Payson, Utah.
In addition to this, the incident reportedly continued outside and, following
an argument, Gary Coleman hit Colt Rushton and a car while he was backing out
of a parking space.
However, Lt. Bill Wright said that it had not been
determined whether the actor hit his supposed fan deliberately, as neither of
the men involved in the confrontation gave authorities further details upon the
unpleasant episode. Neither man was issued a citation.
“We’re currently trying to sort through those issues,”
Wright informed the Deseret News of Salt Lake City. “We’ve been able to
establish there was an argument between the two, due to pictures Rushton wanted
to take. He took some of Gary Coleman, and (Coleman) wasn’t happy about it,” he
added.
I sure wonder if snapping a photo of a celebrity is worth
paying a short visit to the hospital, as Colt Rushton had to be treated for
minor injuries.
Wright told The Salt Lake Tribune there were “indications”
that alcohol played a part in the accident.
Gary Coleman is best known for his role in the ‘70s’ sitcom
“Diff’rent Strokes,” in which he impersonated Arnold Jackson, a child adopted
by a rich widower. The show was broadcast from 1978 to 1986 and represented a
swift success.
