It seems that developers at Microsoft are busy, as they are adding the final touches to the soon-to-be-released Windows 7 later this year. Still, the Redmond giant is having problems with other products of its portfolio, as a release candidate for the eighth version of the Internet Explorer and the Service Pack 2 for Vista and Server 2008 have either postponed release dates or unknown status.

Regarding the Internet Explorer 8 web browser, developers at Microsoft haven’t been doing much since March 2008, when the Beta 2 of the program had been released. Only minor updates were done since last year, as a slightly revised IE 8 version was bundled on the several beta releases of Windows 7 during the last few months on 2008.

The public beta if Windows 7 released by Microsoft in January 10, 2009, also features an updated version of Internet Explorer 8, but people are specifically waiting for the final version, or at least for a release candidate.

In what the second service pack for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 concerns, Microsoft will allegedly delay the initial release date, as the company is still keeping it under the beta testing phase.

Even though Microsoft’s official schedule shows the release date of SP 2 sometime in “Q2 2009,” writers at the Asian website TechARP pointed out that Microsoft would postpone the final release of the Service Pack 2 for another 2 months, concluding that the odds are that people should be able to update their systems in April.
