Northwest Indiana Police arrested Tuesday morning an Illinois man suspected in the fatal stabbing of his wife
in the Chicago suburb of Lincolnshire.
Clarence J. Weber is accused of killing his wife Saturday in
a hotel parking lot outside the SpringHill Suites, 300 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire,
and was convicted of trying to kill his first wife and kidnapping their young
daughter years ago in Florida.
The arrest comes after Weber, 58, abandoned his car at a truck stop in the
area. He was captured on videotape at the Flying J at Interstate Highway 65 and
Indiana Highway 2 near Lowell
around 4 p.m. Monday.
According to Mike Higgins, a spokesman for the Lake County, Ind., sheriff's
department, 58-years-old Weber, most recently of the 3400 block of Lewis Avenue
in Waukegan, was arrested without incident around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at Delaware
Street and East 137th Avenue, outside Crown Point.
Police say that soon after 31-year-old Adelina Weber got off work, she met
up with her husband in the parking lot of a nearby hotel. After a short period
of time, she stumbled into the hotel's front lobby, where she collapsed. People
rushing to her side noticed that she had been stabbed. Emergency crews
rushed her to a local hospital, but it was too late.
Initially, police officers took under consideration a handful of potential suspects,
but later evidence pointed out to Adelina's husband, Clarence Weber, Jr.
Weber was paroled in 1995 after spending behind bars less than half his 15-year
term for the 1989 attempted murder of his first wife.
