Recently, Hulu chief executive Jason Kilar posted on the service’s blog that the site's content would no longer be available via Boxee, which is free media center software for the Mac and Linux platforms.
Kilar further informed that the decision had been made by the video site’s content providers, who had asked that Boxee be blocked from showing Hulu content.
Nevertheless, the exec said that the move had not changed and would not come to change Hulu’s goal of rendering media much easier and more user-focused, adding that they were not planning to stop until that goal was to be achieved.
Hulu has also cut off CBS's TV.com from its video content, stating that contractual obligations had forced them to take that course of action, also asking media outlets to respect confidentiality.
Speaking of Hulu’s decision, Boxee said on its blog that it was confident that future collaborations would come between the two content providers, hoping for further negotiations.
Boxee announced that they would be removing Hulu’s content this Friday.
Until now, Boxee has been providing free access to Hulu, Netflix, ABC, CBS, MTV, among others.
Freeware cross-platform media center software Boxee, which also has some social networking features, enables users to view, rate and recommend media content via the aforementioned networking tool.
For the time being, Boxee is only available as an Alpha release for Mac OS X (Leopard and Tiger), Apple TV and Linux, for computers that run on Intel processors.
