Hulk Hogan’s Son Arrested For Reckless Driving

Nick "Hogan" Bollea turned himself to the authorities on Wednesday for several criminal charges stemming from his August car crash which left his passenger friend John Graziano, 22, with permanent brain damage.

According The Tampa Tribune, the Clearwater police spokeswoman Elizabeth Daly-Watts said the 17-year-old son of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, also starring in "Hogan Knows Best," was handcuffed and escorted to the Pinellas County Jail by two officers. He was arrested on felony charges of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury.

Following Nick’s arrest, his attorneys Morris "Sandy" Weinberg Jr. and Kevin Hayslett, released a statement saying: "Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident. We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

Graziano, an Iraq war veteran, will remain at Bayfront Medical Center but is expected to be transferred to a veterans hospital very soon, George Tragos, attorney for Deborah Graziano, John's mother, said.

"The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his. Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt," the statement added.

Tragos also claimed that although he and his client support the District Attorney’s Office decision, they still think the charges don’t make them justice, given their side of the story.

An investigation into the August 26 accident is still ongoing, but this morning’s arrest report said that Bollea was street racing against a silver Dodge Viper, at speeds of over 60 mph through the 40 mph zone, just before he lost control of his 1998 Toyota Supra. His sports car struck a curb and spun 180 degrees across two lanes of traffic before slamming rear-end first into a palm tree, the newspaper wrote.

Additionally, and more damaging, police also cited Nick, who had numerous tickets in the year before the accident, for having a blood alcohol level of .02 or higher.

The investigation also ruled out the possibility that other car’s driver could have caused the crash somehow.
