The crash-landing of US Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River has inspired a free online video game: "Hero on the Hudson" where browsers can match up to Chesley Sullenberger.
In the “Hero on the Hudson” video game, the rules are simple. US Airways 1549 is going down, and the user must pilot it to safety on the Hudson River, like Sullenberger did. The thing is that the user just has the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard to bring the plane down. The game begins with the warning, "The fate of passengers is in your hands!" If you get it wrong, the jet crashes and sinks into the river with an ominous gurgling sound.
The inspiration for this game is hero pilot Sullenberger, who was forced to ditch his plane on January 15 after it collided with a flock of birds shortly after take-off. All 155 passengers and crew survived the US Airways Flight 1549 from New York's La Guardia airport, bound for Charlotte, North Carolina.
All in all the video game, by Orbs Games Limited, has received some positive attention on game websites like Tastyplay.com where players have rated it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars but as far as the genral ratings are concerned, they are not necessarily positive. Those involved with the crash landing for instance, are not as positive, though. Alexandra Spera, whose husband, Vince, was a passenger on the flight told Newsday, "To inject humor into it? I don't know if I'm ready yet."
