After losing her mother, brother and nephew, Academy
Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson and her family announced on Thursday that
they would set up a foundation for families of murder victims.
The Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims,
named in honor of the actress’ mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother, Jason
Hudson, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, will help families of murder
victims with products, shelter, as well as medical assistance, according to a
statement released by Jennifer Hudson’s family.
A memorial service was also scheduled to take place on
Monday morning at Chicago’s
Apostolic Church of God. Only invited guests will be able to attend the funeral,
as the Hudson
family decided the mourning of the deceased private. In addition, they have
been asked to donate funds to the Hudson King Foundation instead of sending
flowers.
The arrangements for the service are being handled by Hudson
Funeral Home, a company whose owners are relatives of the actress.
The family is also expected to announce an impending public
memorial, which would give fans the opportunity to mourn the deaths of Jennifer
Hudson’s relatives.
The estranged husband of Julia Hudson, Julian King’s mother,
has been in police custody since police found the bodies of Darnerll Donerson
and Jason Hudson. Although he has not been charged with the murders, he remains
the prime suspect in the killings. He was arrested for parole violation, after spending
several years behind bars for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and
possessing a stolen vehicle.
