President-wannabe Mike Huckabee
made a last appearance in order to convince the electors to vote for him in a
New Hampshire primary. He was accompanied by his most devoted supporter,
martial art expert and actor Chuck Norris, which might have certainly put
Huckabee in a dark cone, as part of his audience admitted to attending solely for
Chuch Norris’ appearance.
The Republican candidate has
been on the road since October last year, trying to convince his electorate to
vote for him, and Chuck has always been there for support, which started quite
a polemic with Huckabee’s contender, Mitt Romney, who made a Web ad that made
Norris very angry.
Romney was probably not the only
one struck by the “odd” acquaintances, as Norris and Huckabee didn’t know each
other three months ago. But the actor claimed that it was “the message that he
puts across” that drew him to Huckabee.
Not only did he follow the White
House candidate across the country, but he also made a series of campaign spots
on YouTube based on the “Chuck Norris facts” that only weeks ago were submitted
to a lawsuit against publisher and writer Ian Spector.
“I’m very proud to present my
friend, and a friend to America. Please give a great New Hampshire welcome to
Chuck Norris!” This is how the White House candidate introduced his guest at
the Sunday’s reunion. Between two jokes and some serious issues, the youngest
of the electors appeared to have been convinced: “I’m a Huckabee supporter because
who else can get Chuck Norris?” said 18-year-old Gabe Smith to Guardian
Unlimited.
If Huckabee was trying to
attract the young electors, well, he might have found the secret to do just
that. And if Chuck Norris’ presence was not enough, the Republican candidate
ended his New Hampshire speech with a bass guitar representation, together with
a band, playing “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Sweet Home Alabama”.
