Stand-up comedian Howie Mandel was rushed to Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital on Monday night after experiencing intense chest pains. His publicist said that the Canadian television personality has been complaining of irregular heartbeat.
Mandel's representative told CNN the 53-year-old "Deal or No Deal" host was in Toronto filming segments for his new show "Howie Do It" when he was taken to a hospital, so doctors could monitor his condition.
Police officers found him conscious in the elevator of the Sheraton Hotel on Queen Street around 7 PM, but his mother, Evy, as she stated for the Can West news service, was terrified when her son collapsed inside their hotel room during the night.
Howard Michael Mandel II was born on the 29th of November, 1955. Before embracing his career as a game show host, Mandel was best known for his part on the NBC medical drama “St. Elsewhere.” He is also well-known as creator and star of the children's cartoon “Bobby's World.” The comedian has an obsessive-compulsive disorder and a terrible fear of germs to the point that he does not shake hands with anyone, including enthusiastic contestants on “Deal or No Deal,” unless he is wearing latex gloves.
He married his high school sweetheart, Terry in 1980. Their union was blessed with three children: daughters Jackie and Riley and son Alex.
