Santa Claus – the chubby, cheerful, old man dressed in a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots, is a motive of tremendous joy especially for kids from the four corners of the world.
Everybody knows Santa is “gonna find out who’s naughty and nice,” as the famous Christmas song says, and then bring gifts to good children on December 24, thanks to the assistance of the busy elves and the eight reindeer that pull his sleigh and come down chimneys to leave presents in children’s stockings put on the fireplace’s mantelpiece. However, how many of you really know the legend of the gift-giver?
There are many stories regarding his hometown. While some say he lives at the North Pole, others claim he lives in Rovaniemi in Lapland, Finland. Since half a century ago, Santa has joyfully been making a halt at Napapiiri, located close to Rovaniemi, with the purpose of meeting children and hearing what they want for Christmas. By 1985, his sojourns to Napapiiri had become so frequent that he established his personal Santa Claus Office there. Hapapiiri is where he comes to every single day of the year to listen to the Christmas wishes of children who have arrived from around the world.
So hang your stocking and say your prayers cause Santa won’t disappoint you this year!
