Finally you can store your captured video directly in the Blu-Ray
format but only if you are ready to spend somewhere between $1,299 and $1499
for the latest camcorders from Hitachi.
The Japanese company announced today two new models DZ-BD70A
and DZ-BD7HA, which are set to be launched this month in Japan and in October worldwide.
The DZ-BD70A is a single drive camcorder that can record
approximately one hour of FullHD 1920x1080 high definition video on an 8cm
single-sided Blu-ray disc (BD-R and BD-RE). For even more recording
flexibility, the DZ-BD70A also allows video to be recorded in standard
definition quality to DVD discs (DVD-R/-RW/-RAM).
The camcorder can be also used as a digital camera and the
photos are stored on a SD card. Thanks to a feature called Photo Capture, the
users are able to store ay still frame of video from Blu-Ray recordings as pictures
in 2.1 mega pixel resolution,
But the truly innovative device is the DZ-BD7HA, which is
defined by Hitachi as a Hybrid model, meaning it provides the Blu-ray disc
recording capability along with a 30 gigabyte (GB) built-in Hard Disk Drive
(HDD) that can record approximately four hours of 1920x1080 high definition
video (HX mode) or up to eight hours of 1440x1080 high definition video (HS
mode). Also, with a simple push of a button the video content can be transferred
from HDD to BD within the camcorder itself.
Both models feature a full high-definition lens, 5.3 Mega
pixel progressive CMOS image sensor and Picture Master Full HD processing
technology.
As you can imagine, both camcorders are compatible with any
Blu-ray player including the Play Station 3 and include HDMI connections so
they can be connected directly to a high-def set.
The new BD camcorders are also distinguished from
conventional camcorders by an elegant and innovative design. The large-aperture
lens expresses the camcorders' high quality. The sleek, round body is a unique Hitachi motif that is
particularly eye catching, especially for consumers with an appreciation of
artful aesthetics.
