Lauren Conrad got the remarkable chance of creating a dress
for next month’s Emmy awards ceremony. The star of MTV’s reality hit “The
Hills” will be designing a “couture red carpet gown” for the 60th Primetime
Emmy Awards, the TV academy announced on Wednesday, as reported by the
Associated Press.
The 22-year-old actress’ dresses will be worn by the trophy
girls who carry the Emmy prizes on stage before presenters offer them to the
winners, the academy said, according to the same source. Furthermore, the
trophy holders also emerge on the red carpet before the beginning of the show.
“When the show approached me, I was so excited,” Lauren
Conrad wrote in an e-mail to Reuters. “I love designing dresses and I can’t
wait to see my own designs on the Primetime Emmy Awards. The dress will
be elegant yet simple with a Lauren Conrad Collection vibe,” Reuters quoted the
actress.
The young actress recently entered the fashion industry,
although her eponymous clothing
line, which was revealed for the first time during this year’s
L.A. Fashion Week, has received not-so-good reviews.
It seems that reality TV has a great contribution to this
year’s ceremony, as the five nominees for the new Emmy category of best reality
TV show host will not just wait in the audience for the winner to be announced,
but will have to work and entertain the viewers, as they will host the Emmy
ceremony. Ryan Seacrest (“American Idol”), Jeff Probst (“Survivor”), Tom
Bergeron (“Dancing with the Stars”), Howie Mandel (“Deal or No Deal”) and Heidi
Klum (“Project Runway”) have been assigned as co-hosts of the 60th Primetime
Emmy Awards, which will take place on September 21 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and will be
broadcast on ABC.
