Hilary Duff was found to be the best fit for the new NBC sitcom, entitled “Barely Legal.” The show is about the true story of Kathleen Holtz who at the age of 18 became the youngest lawyer of the state of California. The script, which was ordered for “Barely Legal,” draws an interesting comedy about the passing of the difficult California bar.

Duff, 21, joined this NBC project as part of a production deal between the network and the producer, Universal Media Studios. The executive producer of the sitcom is Rob Morrow and the series will be written by Elisa Bell.

The singer and actress began her career by working in theater plays from her city and television commercials during her childhood. She gained fame once she reached the chance to play the main role in Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire.” After she had achieved this great success she went on playing in movies and among her successes there are “Cheaper by the Dozen” from 2003 and “a Cinderella Story” from 2004.

As a singer, Duff got three RIAA certified Platinum albums and sold over 13 million albums all around the world. Her first album was released in 2003 and was entitled “Metamorphosis.” The album got three platinum prizes and “Hilary Duff” from 2004 together with “Most Wanted” from 2005 got her two extra platinum albums.

Her latest album, released in April 2007, “Dignity” was certified Gold in August of the same year. 

Duff released a clothing line, “Stuff by Hilary Duff” and also two perfume collections, on which she worked together with Elizabeth Arden. She began dating Aaron Carter back in 2001, but their relationship lasted for only two years. Supposedly, Carter had left Duff for Lindsay Lohan and even if he had tried to return back to Duff, the 21-year old began dating Joel Madden in 2004.

This didn’t last too long either because they broke up in November 2006. One year later, she started seeing NHL player Mike Comrie and their relationship has lasted until now.
