"He's Just Not That Into You" is a sort of anti-romantic romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, who is also an executive producer, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long and Kevin Connolly. Together with the director Ken Kwapis they proceed in walking the viewers gently down the rocky road of love.
The movie is based on Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's popular relationship advice book and it begins its story on a playground with a 6-year-old girl who gets socked in the arm by a 6-year-old boy. Ginnifer Goodwin, who provides the narration of the scene, gives the explanation. The little girl’s mother tells her, while drying her tears, that the boy only hit her because he actually likes her and he could not find a better way to show it to her other than this. Perhaps this may not have been the best explanation the mom could give her daughter, because from that day forth, for the rest of her life, the girl is doomed to reinterpret and deeply analyze every interaction she has with every boy she gets in contact with. She will search for the hidden meaning in everything he says and find him excuses for every mistake he makes with her.
As you have already probably figured it out, this little girl is metaphorically intended to represent all females and not just the urban professional perfect ones who appear in this movie; the viewers are given to understand the fact that her problem is actually a universal one and the movie develops as the quintessential chic flick filled with endless discussions of the characters involved in intertwining relationships. Most of the women acting are begging for a return phone call from the guy they dated the night before.
