Early Sunday evening, a helicopter crashed near Sunrise Beach
in Camden County. Authorities said that several
people were in the aircraft and one of them was not found.
According to the Kansas City Star, the helicopter was
carrying five people and it crashed in Camden
County, near Sunrise Beach. The remaining 4
people were rescued.
The Missouri State Water Patrol did not make public the
identities of the five persons.
The helicopter was supposed to land at about 7:30 in a
private residence in Sunrise
Beach, but it began
spinning and, after a while, it crashed into the water, authorities reported.
Some witnesses said that the weather conditions were
extremely bad when the accident happened. The aircraft went down near the
15-mile marker in front of the Porta Cima Golf Course, reported MyFox Saint Louis.
Steven Hermann told FOX 2 News that the helicopter was about
40 or 50 feet above the Lake of the Ozarks
when it started spinning. He also said that it took the helicopter few seconds to
crash into the water.
Authorities said that the Federal Aviation Administration
was informed about the accident and an investigation will be started.
