Heidi Montag’s mother doesn’t care much for her new son-in-law and she isn’t afraid to say it out loud. The mother of the “Hills” star said she doesn’t give the marriage of her daughter much chance and called it the biggest mistake of Heidi’s life.
As for Heidi’s new husband, Spencer Pratt, he’s “manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi," as far as Darlene Egelhoff is concerned, Us Weekly reported. She said that about the new man in her daughter’s life after the two chose not to have Thanksgiving with her family and instead went with Prat in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the site of her Nov. 20 elopement.
"Spencer has tried to cut everyone out of her life," Egelhoff says. She added that she would like to see a blood test from Mexico and that he wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Pratt had Heidi drugged.
However, the couple failed to obtain the requisite marriage license before the ceremony held at the One & Only Palmilla Resort near Cabo San Lucas because the state of Mexico doesn’t recognize their marriage. Pratt isn’t worried though. He says they’ll take care of the legal details regarding their marriage when they get back in the United States.
What Pratt, 25, did not know when he made that statement after the ceremony is that the Los Angeles County, where the two reside, doesn’t acknowledge marriage ceremonies that take place outside the U.S. without legal acknowledgement from that country's government. The couple nicknamed Speidi is left with two options: go to court or marry all over again.
