Actress Heather Locklear dodged a bullet this morning by pleading no contest to misdemeanor reckless driving charges stemming from her September arrest in Santa Barbara.
The star was not present in the Santa Barbara courthouse on Friday morning, but her lawyer Blair Berk, who refused to comment on the case, entered the plea on her behalf. In exchange to the no contest plea, a DUI charge was dismissed, TMZ reported. Locklear was placed under three years' informal probation, was fined $700 and must complete a 12-hour DMV road and safety class.
The 47-year-old actress, who became famous for her role in the 1980s drama "Dynasty" and 1990s television show "Melrose Place," was arrested on September 27 after a woman, who previously worked as a celebrity news reporter, called 911 to report that Locklear appeared to be driving drunk, and then took photographs of the actress' DUI arrest. Luckily, no one got hurt in the incident.
Lab tests showed that she had no alcohol in her system and no illegal narcotics of any kind. However, she was on prescription medication, which may have impaired her ability to drive a motor vehicle safely.
Prior to her arrest, the actress, who divorced Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora last year, spent a month in a treatment center for anxiety and depression.
Locklear, whose recent work includes guest appearances on " Hannah Montana" and "Rules of Engagement," can next be seen in a Lifetime movie called "Flirting with 40."
