Be very careful what you wish for! Many people wish to be famous, just like actress Heather Locklear, but few realize that being famous doesn’t necessarily means being happy. In fact, in most cases it means the opposite.
Heather Locklear, who became famous for her role in the 1980s drama "Dynasty” and 1990s television show “Melrose Place,” was put under arrest this weekend for driving under influence of prescription drugs. The run-in with the law comes on the background of a very tough and sad period for the actress who sought medical help for depression a few months ago.
Police stopped the 47-year-old actress on Saturday night outside the coastal city of Santa Barbara, the California Highway Patrol confirmed. The exact location of the arrest was the town of Montecito, authorities said.
The actress was arrested and booked about 7 p.m. after a person called 911 to report her erratic driving, California Highway Patrol spokesman Tom Marshal told The Los Angeles Times. The person who called 911 said she saw a woman who was impaired getting in her car in a Montecito parking lot Saturday afternoon about 4:30.
According to the person’s account, Locklear was driving back and forth over a pair of sunglasses in the parking lot and after she left she stopped the car and stumbled into a traffic lane. When the patrol officer arrived at the scene, the actress’ vehicle was parked on State Route 192 partially blocking a traffic lane.
Locklear was taken to the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Barbara-area office and was tested. She was later released from custody without having to post bail.
The actress checked into an Arizona clinic in June in order to receive treatment for anxiety and depression.
