The newest film in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” premiered in Tokyo Thursday, to the delight of devoted fans.
This fifth film comes almost six years after the release of the very first Harry Potter adventure movie, starring the now world-famous trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” premiered in Tokyo’s Roppongi district Thursday with a special appearance from Radcliffe and producer David Heyman.
The actor who plays the bespectacled boy-wizard, Daniel Radcliffe, has grown up in front of his fans’ eyes. He was merely 11 when he first appeared in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in 2001.
Today, the adolescent, who has turned to theater as well in the meantime, is still awed by the success of the Harry Potter phenomenon. “It's incredible. Japanese fans are some of the strongest fans of all the world,” he said of the Tokyo premiere.
Heyman promised fans this would be “the most emotional” of all Harry Potter films so far released, while Radcliffe emphasized the action parts. “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” will premiere in London on July 3 and in North America on July 11.
Author J. K. Rowling releases the final book in the Potter series next month, but fans can rest assured: Radcliffe, Watson and Grint have signed on to play in the remaining adaptations, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”
Next month author JK Rowling unveils the seventh and final book in the successful Harry Potter series.
