The news that Warner Brothers has delayed the release of the latest movie in the Harry Potter franchise has made a lot of fans angry. And as the opening day has been set in the month of July, 2009, fans have already started to protest in several forms.
While most of them just write blog posts and comments in which they express their anger and, sometimes, disgust at Warner Brother's decision, others have been more active and have started making petitions that have gotten about 35,000 digital signatures so far.
The most extreme forms of protest come from people who ask Potter fans to boycott the film's release next year, while others are preparing to protest in front of the studio's headquarters.
The interesting thing about all this was that the studio delayed the release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” only to generate more income for the movie. The guys at Warner Brothers figured out that due to the lack of potential block busters for the summer of 2009, which is caused by the writer's strike, the film will get even more people and will generate more repeated business next year than this fall.
Another possible, but rather improbable thing that caused the delay is lead actor Daniel Radcliffe's nude appearance in a Broadway play. Some people thought that the actor's image might be tarnished in the eye of the movie's audience. However, the play was staged in he UK during the release of a former Harry Potter film too, without having any repercussions on the number of people that watched the movie.
