HTC Updates Diamond and Touch Pro Models

On Monday, the smartphone manufacturer HTC announced that it would release revised versions for the Diamond and the Touch Pro models. The phones will be named HTC Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2.

Both the Diamond2 and the Touch Pro2 share many of their internals, but, while HTC plans to steal some of iPhone’s share through the Diamond2, the Touch Pro2 is still focused towards business users, as its hardware keyboard makes it easy to type emails and edit documents.

Both models have 3G connectivity and big, crisp touchscreens. HTC chose to stick with the minimalistic high-class design, as the smartphones have black color cases and chromed accents on the edges.

However, along with the design update, HTC also decided to upgrade the hardware of the popular smartphone models. Therefore, users will be delighted to see a larger and brisker touchscreens, along with more powerful processors.  The company also bundled a new version of the TouchFLO 3D interface, which brings many of Windows Mobile’s functions into a more intuitive layout.

HTC now offers a new service for both the new models, called Push Internet. The application automatically downloads content from websites, so the pages load instantly when the users access those URLs.

Diamond2 has a better camera, which now has a 5 MP sensor and a mechanical autofocus feature. Moreover, the 3.2 inches screen with a stunning resolution of 480 x 800 means that the TouchFLO 3d interface looks incredibly crisp.

While HTC did not provide details about the price tags, the company stated that the Diamond 2 model would be available early in Q2 2009 in Europe and Asia and “later” this year in North America. The Touch Pro 2 model will be available starting summer 2009.
