The ones who also use their iPhone for taking pictures will definitely enjoy this one: HP has announced a new app for the iPhone that is available now on the App Store for free. The app is called HP iPrint Photo and allows users to print images directly from their iPhone to Wi-Fi equipped HP printers.
This new application, iPrint Photo, permits photos amassed on an iPhone to be printed out on HP's inkjet printers connected to a Wi-Fi network. All you need to do is load up the application, view a picture, and tap on it. A few seconds later, it will wirelessly begin printing on your inkjet printer.
HP stated that images that you store on your iPhone or iPod Touch will print on the majority of HP inkjet printers that are networked. The pictures will print out as a standard photo size. Right now the software allows a 4-by-6-inch photo size and alters images accordingly.
Nevertheless the printer will have to be on your local Wi-Fi network, as will the iPhone for this to work. HP iPrint photo uses Apple's Bonjour tools to search for and identify printers, and supports Wi-Fi networks including Apple Airport, Linksys, D-Link and Netgear.
However, there are a few restrictions. The only images printed are JPEG images, and cannot print any other currently, HP said. The printing could cancel if a user gets a call or a text at the same time.
Like thousands of other free applications on the iPhone, iPrint Photo won't generate any money for HP directly, but anything that encourages printing stands to be good for the computer and printer giant's bottom line.
