HP announced at SIGGRAPH 2008 on Monday a brand new mobile workstation which boasts DreamColor Display, delivering exceptional color accuracy for professionals who are developing graphics. The HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation with DreamColor Display is fitted with a 17-inch diagonal HP DreamColor Display, which offers over 16 million colors, much more than the actual 260,000 available colors on standard notebook displays.
The HP EliteBook 8730w Mobile Workstation is powered by a cutting edge Intel quad-core processor and NVIDIA's next generation of professional Quadro FX cards with up to 1 GB dedicated video memory. System memory configurations go up to 8GB of RAM.
The powerful laptop is encased in a professional-looking rugged case, made of a brushed anodized aluminum exterior combined with a magnesium alloy chassis. It will be available later this month at the starting U.S. list price of $1,699.
At SIGGRAPH 2008, HP also announced the 24-inch DreamColor LP2480zx professional monitor and two smaller laptops, the less expensive EliteBook 8530w mobile workstation and the EliteBook 8530p notebook PC. The LP2480zx DreamColor display has a MSRP of $3,299 and HP claims is capable of displaying up to 1 billion colors.
HP's DreamColor brand derives from the company’s relationship with the DreamWorks Animation SKG studio.
