On Wednesday, Hewlett-Packard introduced
their new TouchSmart tx2 notebook, which brings forth a multi-touch
screen as the main innovation and as well as the major enticement to consumers.
The TouchSmart tx2’s release follows the company’s TouchSmart
PC roll-out, which was introduced earlier this year and was fitted with a 22 inches display of
1650-by-1080-resolution.
HP’s new notebook runs Microsoft’s operating system Windows
Vista and comes packaged with a rechargeable digital ink pen, 12.1-inch
diagonal Brightview LED and a remote control. Nevertheless, the best part about it is that
TouchSmart tx2 uses the multi-touch technology, which enables computer users to
perform several operations concerning their files and digital media by only touching
the notebook’s screen. Consequently, the 12.1-inch display allows people to scroll,
zoom, flick, drag and drop files with several fingers, which is an ability
Apple’s iPhone offers as well.
Tx2 is priced at $1149 and was made available Wednesday,
November 19. The 5 lbs.
notebook features a 2.1GHz AMD Turion X2 CPU, 3GB of memory, a 250GB hard
drive, integrated ATI HD3200 graphics, a dual-layer DVD burner, three
USB ports, a multi-card reader, along with a 32-bit Vista Home Premium.
Palo Alto, California-headquartered HP is the largest
technology company worldwide, operating in almost every country. Back in 2006,
the company registered revenue of $91.7 billion, which rendered it to outrun IBM’s
$91.4 billion and thus become the world's largest technology vendor in terms of
sales.Currently, HP is also the 5th largest software company in the world.
