Computer manufacturer HP has introduced on Wednesday its new
line of ultra-portable notebooks, finally entering this prosperous market. It
seems that these low-cost, ultra-portable laptops are what people truly desire
at this moment of economic instability and because of the speed with which the
world is starting to move, the tiny devices which meet people’s needs. To make
its products more appealing, HP teamed up with Vivienne Tam, a famous fashion
house, in order to design the look of the new laptops. The HP Mini Vivienne Tam
edition was revealed at Tam's Fall 2009 Fashion Week show and it stands out
through its vibrant red color and floral theme.
All the three new mini laptops introduced by HP have their price range under
$400 making them pretty affordable and posing a threat to other laptop
manufacturers like Dell or Apple.
HP wasn’t the only company to release new mini laptops this
week. Lenovo also announced on Tuesday a low cost laptop that will run on
Microsoft’s Windows XP Home edition. This low priced laptop was specially
designed for college students as it is very portable, weighing less than 3
pounds.
Also, Dell revealed a new notebook this week, called the
Inspiron Mini 9, which is available in Japan and is supposed to be
launched globally sometime next month.
Some say that HP entered the ultra-portable laptop competition too late as
other manufacturers have already made a name out of manufacturing good,
reliable mini laptops. On the other hand, HP finally joining this segment of
the market makes for a wider range of products, giving the potential customer
more products to choose from.
