HBO Is Now An iTunes Guest

A brand new feature is now available on Apple’s iTunes Store, as customers will be given access to download HBO’s programs, including episodes of Sex and the City, The Sopranos and also the highly acclaimed drama The Wire.

Even though Apple scored major popularity points with its fan base by introducing the 99-cent model for all music downloads, regardless of how requested or new the songs are, the new collaboration will present a different set of prices, with some of the episodes more expensive than others.

“The big question is, will this start to trickle over to other areas of content? It could potentially have a huge impact on the music side,” said Russ Crupnick, a senior industry analyst for the NPD Group, according to The New York Times.

So far, Sex and the City, The Wire and Flight of the Conchords have been announced at the standard price of $1.99 USD per episode. The Sopranos, Deadwood and Rome will be available for $2.99 USD per episode.

Sex and the City, starting its upcoming movie campaign, will offer the full catalog for download, while the rest of the shows will have their first season available. Sopranos will also feature their final season.

Besides being the world’s largest online music stores, now with the help of HBO, the leading premium cable channel, the iTunes Store will also become the world’s most popular online TV store, offering more than 800 shows. So far, the network has sold more than 150 million TV episodes.
