It was finally English director Guy Ritchie’s turn to bear
scrutiny regarding his marriage to pop superstar Madonna, as he attended the
San Diego International Comic-Con to present his new film.
Guy Ritchie attended the San Diego International Comic-Con on
Thursday afternoon as director of “RocknRolla,” a film scheduled for an October
release. He was joined by the film’s costars, Gerard Butler, Jeremy
Piven and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, to show scenes from the upcoming movie.
But Guy Ritchie was not only director Guy Ritchie Thursday;
he was also Guy Ritchie husband of American icon Madonna and some of the
questions he had to answer regarded her and their relationship.
Stoic, Ritchie told People magazine that his marriage was “fine,”
and added smiling, “as far as I’m aware of.”
The director proceeded to explain how his relationship with
Madonna had helped him view his hometown of London with a new perspective, more like a
tourist admiring the beauty not a spy looking “for the bad stuff.”
Saying that he was born in London
and knows the city well, Ritchie explained that he lives “vicariously through
my wife so I was once a spy and now I’ve become a tourist, and it’s much more
fun to live in London
as a tourist than it is as a spy.”
He also defined what “spy” meant, should readers be so
curious: “… the definition was a spy always looks for the bad stuff, and a
tourist always looks for the good stuff.”
“So that makes it easy, being married to an American,” he
concluded.
The 39-year-old only referred to Madonna as “my wife.” The couple
has been married for seven years now. They are parents to three children, Lourdes, 11, Rocco, 7,
and David, 2.
Guy Ritchie famously calls Madonna Madge and she has referred
to herself as Mrs. Ritchie.
