Representatives of Guns N’ Roses confirmed on Wednesday that their long awaited new album, “Chinese Democracy,” will go on sale Nov. 23 at Best Buy stores and online as part of an exclusive deal. A pre-order page for the CD was posted at the BestBuy.com site on October 15, although the pre-order option was later taken off. According to Billboard.com, sources who have heard the album say that it opens with a "blood-curdling Axl Rose scream."
"The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock n' roll," co-managers Irving Azoff and Andy Gould said in a statement.
And external advantages will occur from the album’s purchase: last March, Dr. Pepper, announced it would give away free cans of the soft drink should Guns issue their LP before the close of 2008. And the beverage company has no intention of not keeping this promise. "People will go on Dr Pepper's Web site and we will send them a coupon for a free one," the spokesperson confirmed. "It's going to be real easy."
"Chinese Democracy" is the first album of new Guns N' Roses material since 1991's "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II." The album, produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, will contain 14 songs, three of which have not yet leaked onto the internet or been performed in concert. Nevertheless Axl Rose has been promoting the album on tour since 2001, and over the years many songs have leaked on the Internet.
“Shackler’s Revenge” debuted September 14 through the Rock Band 2 videogame and “If The World” can be heard in the film Body Of Lies, which premiered on October 11.
