Christians who have wanted to play Guitar Hero, but were
reluctant because of songs that praised the devil rather than the Lord, can now
be relieved.
Next month, video-game developer Digital Praise will release
a Christian clone of the very popular “Guitar Hero.” The new wireless guitar
game is called “Guitar Praise” and promises to allow players to jam to 52 hits
by the likes of contemporary Christian musicians TobyMac, Newsboys, Whitecross,
Thousand Foot Krutch and Skillet.
Tom Bean, the president and CEO of Digital Praise, told Fox
News that the game was created following multiple requests from its gaming
fans.
“They started e-mailing us and writing us and calling us and
asking us to create a game that they could play along with using a guitar,” he
said.
Following the model of “Guitar Hero,” the Christian game
requires players to hit the correct notes while the provided song plays, but it
will only be available for Macs and PCs, unlike the Activision’s game, which is
compatible with Xbox, Wii and PlayStation 2 and 3.
The game is to be released on September 25, at the price of $99.95
and its developers are very hopeful that it will be successful.
“We see it as another fun way for kids to spend time
together and have a positive experience with positive content,” Bean said.
In 2005, Digital Praise produced “Dance Praise,” which is a
clone of Konami’s “Dance Dance Revolution.”
