This isn’t exactly Guitar Hero’s best week, judging by the abundance
of forum discussions on hardware problems with game peripherals! In the
spotlight was the drum kit, which apparently has faulty pads which either fail
to respond to hits or overdo it.
Users have not been satisfied with RedOctane’s suggestions to
check if the batteries are working properly or simply if a cable is unplugged, and
even hit the drum pad harder. Some got tired of hitting harder, but according
to Activision, the problem is isolated.
According to a statement by Activision, they are aware of
the issues reported, but the problem is apparently limited to the kits in earlier
manufacturing stages. Therefore, they promised to soon be offering a drum kit
to enable player to fully optimize their drums.
Leaving the drum trouble aside, there is another issue that
RedOctane and Activision need to take care of: the lack of compatibility between
the Guitar Hero peripherals and the Rock Band software, which has been reported
on the PlayStation 3 version.
In the meantime, there are some new announcements about
Guitar Hero coming our way. First of all, the Hero DJ title has been officially
confirmed, but we’re still lacking the details. It’s easy to assume that it
will not have the success of the next installment of Guitar Hero for example,
but Activison seems confident that it will sell.
In the meantime, Guitar Hero fans have another reason to be
excited about, as the first videos of the Guitar Hero: Metallica surfaced on
the Internet. The game follows the Guitar Hero: Aerosmith title, and has been
officially confirmed this summer.
