The mobile version of Guitar Hero World Tour has been launched on Thursday, for the AT&T subscribers, by Hands-On Mobile. Unfortunately, vocals are not practical for the mobile version, but a drum track is, for every song actually. The game has two new game-playing features, and there are also technical details that could make a difference between how the game looks and sounds on your phone than on another. Basically, Guitar Hero World Tour begins with fifteen new songs for guitar and drums and it uses the phone’s keypad buttons instead of guitar frets. Furthermore, the game has a multiplayer battle mode, one which pairs you with similar players all over the world. The Web site which will keep the scores will be launched on Friday.
Other improvements from the Guitar Hero III Mobile include the audio for Java phones and the avatars’ small statures, that help the characters render better. The sound quality of Java has always been a reason of complaint for subscribers, but Hands-On mobile brings the audio up to the MP3 quality of other platforms. In addition, the graphics part is 3D for BREW and Windows Mobile users, while animation for the J2ME phones is better since the last version. Of course, the graphics part depends on the phone you use, each giving a richer experience depending on the model.
For now, Guitar Hero World Tour is available for AT&T subscribers only, but Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, Alltel and USCC subscribers will be able to play the game in late November. 80 songs are available in-game, including Michael Jackson’s “Beat it” and R.E.M.’s “The One I Love”. Guitar Hero World Tour retails for $59.99 for the game or $189.99 for the game with band kit, being rated T for teen audiences.
