Thanks to Aspyr Media, Guitar Hero III will be available not only for the gaming console owners but also for PC and Mac gamers. The Austin-based company announced that is closely working with Activision and the PC and Mac versions will be available this fall.

Aspyr said that its versions will match their console counterparts with explosive new content and features including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a host of exclusive unlockable content and visually stunning rock venues

The game will be a direct port from Xbox 360 and the players will control the character with mouse and keyboard, but the game will be bundled with a USB peripheral that looks like a real Gibson guitar.

The game includes more than 70 songs in the set list, and more original master tracks than ever before. Amongst the songs there are classical pieces  such as Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones), Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins), Sabotage (by Beastie Boys), but also hot tracks such as The Metal (by Tenacious D), My Name is Jonas (by Weezer) or Knights of Cydonia (by Muse).

Aspyr's expertise in developing and publishing for these platforms means that we will deliver a game that wails just as hard as it does on consoles but feels natural on this audience's chosen platform", he added.

Few days ago, Activision announced that the guitarist Tom Morello, from Rage Against the Machine, who was listed as #26 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.", will guest star as a boss character in Guitar Hero III. 

In Guitar Hero III, the players must compete against legendary guitarists in order to unlock them as playable characters. Another boss in Guitar Heroes III is Slash, ex-Guns N’ Roses, currently playing in Velvet Revolver.
