I don’t know about you guys, but playing with Aerosmith is
just something I didn’t even dare to dream of. Having them in my living-room would
be another thing, but thanks to Guitar Hero, I will be just one of the millions
of happy fans that can make both of their dreams become reality.
“Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” is much like Guitar Hero III, but
with more of a personal feeling for all those classic rockers out there. They
now have the opportunity to be a part of the Aerosmith history, from the Nipmuc
High School to the star-studded halftime show at the Big Game.
The game offers an exclusive chance to enter the Rock &
Roll Hall of Fame, by offering all Guitar Hero and Aerosmith lovers out there
the opportunity to fill in Joe Perry’s shoes and play alongside Steven Tyler in
some of the best concerts the world has ever seen.
The “Guitar Hero: Aerosmith” soundtrack is comprised of 40
tracks, 60 percent of which are Aerosmith tracks. In addition to that, players
get the chance to perform tracks by Lenny Kravitz, Run DMC, and Stone Temple
Pilots.
Leaving that aside, you might find sharing the stage with the
legendary stars a bit pricy and those who’ve tried Guitar Hero III will
probably find this expansion not as rewarding. For those who believe in
variety, the expansion might sound a bit dull.
In terms of reactions, the game received mixed reviews, with
some criticizing the failure to include some Aerosmith hits they consider to be
a must or the lack of real difficulty compared to Guitar Hero III, and others
considering it to be a good tribute to a legendary rock band.
In the meantime, for those who prefer to wait, Guitar Hero
World Tour is coming up, with a little extra than what we were used to, namely
an electronic drum kit and a microphone, as well as a redesigned guitar and the
largest on-disc selection of music to date.
The Guitar Hero series has helped Activision cash in over a
billion dollars and the new version, set for launch in the fall is expected to
win back some of the clients who chose Electronic Arts Inc’s Rock Band game. The
game will be available on the Wii, PS2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
