Guidelines For Your New Computer’s Workout

We all know that everybody is very excited when they buy a new computer. Without being discriminative, here you have a few tips on setting up your new PC or Mac in order to get it work safer, fast and reliably.

The very first thing you should do with your new computer is to take all the measures necessary to make sure you won’t be attacked by viruses or malware. On a Windows-powered PC, the built-in firewall is enabled by default. On a Mac, you will just have to do a few clicks to enable the firewall. Next, you should really consider getting good antivirus software. Even if you choose to pay for it or go for a free version, you should be protected against most security threats.

If you get a PC, most of the times you will see that the manufacturers love to bloat your system before you even begin using it. You will usually see trial versions of various software or you will be presented with a bunch of other applications. The solution is to uninstall them right away because you won’t need them anyway. In that matter, you could use PC Decrapifier.

A common problem with a Windows machine is that Microsoft’s OS isn’t quite neat. As you install and uninstall applications, your registry will become fragmented and will keep many files that the system won’t use anymore. To address this issue, you might try a registry cleaner. System Cleaner and TuneUp Utilities are the most known, but you might choose CCleaner as well, which is freeware. Essentially, any of these programs will generally do a good job to keep your registry clean and your PC free of obsolete files.

Bear in mind that a critical system error or a virus attack might happen anytime and, therefore you could lose all your data as you reinstall the operating system. Consequently, a good advice is to back up your files regularly with 3rd party software.

You could further tweak your computer by disabling start-up programs or delete shortcuts on your desktop.

It may sound complicated, but all these steps don’t take that much time and ensure you that your computer will always work flawlessly.
