Actor Isaiah Washington, better know for the anti-gay slur he reportedly made last year rather than for playing Dr. Preston Burke on ABC’s medical drama, was angry at the network’s decision to fire him.
Washington's contract option was not renewed for next season, series producer ABC Television Studios said Thursday.
In a statement released by the actor’s publicist, Washington was obviously pissed for getting fired after making not-so-nice comments about co-star's T.R. Knight's sexual orientation and for reportedly causing all sorts of trouble on the set of the hit ABC drama.
"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore," he said.
In October last year, the 43-year-old actor reportedly assaulted fellow cast member Patrick Dempsey and shortly afterwards, reports started to circulate that during the fight, Washington grabbed Dempsey by the throat and said, "I’m not your little faggot like T.R. [Knight]."
In January this year, while at the Golden Globe awards, Washington denied using any of the terms the media reported. Cast member Katherine Heigl publicly criticized him, forcing him to issue an apology. ABC executives also criticized the actor for making the comment and his future on the show was thrown into question.
