The Orlando mother of the missing 2-year-old girl is trying to convince authorities to let her out of prison while police investigators are searching for the baby girl and the girl’s grandmother testifies in court.
Casey Anthony, 22, contacted police about her missing baby daughter five months after it went missing. A bond hearing was scheduled for her on Tuesday afternoon. The mother was put under arrest last week after she told police that she hasn’t seen her baby girl named Caylee Marie Anthony since June 9. The Orlando woman was charged with child endangerment, making false officials statements and obstructing a criminal investigation. She was denied bail at a hearing last week. She is currently being held without bond in Orange County.
Each side involved in the case has its own version. Police investigators said the negligent mother has been lying to them all along and misled them in their investigation. On the other hand, Casey Anthony’s attorney Jose Baez said his client has been cooperating and wants to help investigators. Furthermore, the woman’s mother Cindy, told CBS News' The Early Show that her daughter should be released so she can help detectives.
"She is a good mother and has no history of being a bad mother. She wants to find her daughter," Baez said.
The little girl’s grandmother actually testified that her daughter is a good mother and hasn't committed a crime but had lied to her in the past and also has had some trouble keeping jobs.
"Casey's lied to me in the past and when she's lied she's always told me the truth — we've gotten to the bottom of the truth when I talk to her and spend time with her," said Cindy Anthony according to FOXNews.com.
Investigators continue to search the 2-year-old girl. A MySpace page dedicated to the search was created.
