Actor Michael Hollick will not be returning to do the voice of the Grand Theft Auto IV character Niko Bellic for the DLC expansion named The Lost and Damned, according to an executive at gamemaker Rockstar who said that Hollick would not be on board for the expansion.
The reason behind the actor’s no-show seems to be a New York Times article that was published back in May, revealing that Michael Hollick had claimed more than the $100,000 he had earned for voice and motion-control acting in the game. He felt he was entitled to a larger amount of money because GTA IV had made over $600 million within only two weeks.
Hollick told the newspaper that he did not blame Rockstar for the fact that he was not getting enough money for his contribution, but the actors’ union because it did not have the adequate agreements aimed at protecting the people that helped boost sales for games.
For the time being, no information regarding who would be replacing Hollick has been given out.
“Lost and Damned,” the first episodic pack for the action-adventure video game Grand Theft Auto IV, has been slated for release on February 17, 2009 and will be made available for download exclusively to owners of the Xbox 360 version of the game.
The expansion is said to star member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost Johnny Klebitz, who has been announced as a very different character from Bellic, coming from another background to show via this first episode a whole other side of Liberty City, the fictional city where GTA IV is set.
