The Grand Theft Auto video game
series is one of the most popular ever. Unfortunately the fans should still wait, hoping that the forth installment of the
popular video game will eventually be released as promised in the spring of
2008.
Grand Theft Auto IV’s vendor is
Take Two Interactive Software, the company that published all the other titles
of the popular video game series. Take Two is also the publisher of Manhunt 2,
which has recently raised a big wave of concerns and protests because of some
scenes of high violence that the hackers managed to unlock for the PSP version
of the game. The problem was even related to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ so
called Hot Coffee scandal.
However, after days of discussions and statements about Manhunt 2, Take Two’s chairman, Strauss
Zelnick, denied to comment when asked for a specific release date for the other
highly expected video game, Grand Theft Auto IV. Zelnick said that the game
would not be shipped until it will be ready.
"We're going to give a firm
date when we are utterly convinced that we have it and that isn't right now."
- Strauss Zelnick said during an investor conference that took place on
Tuesday. "We're not in the business of disappointing investors."
Grand Theft Auto IV was already
delayed once in August, when its previously-set October release date was moved
to spring 2008. At that moment Take Two said that "certain elements of
development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given
the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms.”
So, although the game’s fans are
waiting for Grand Theft Auto IV, the fact that the publisher hesitated in
making public a release date made the analysts speculate that the game might be
further delayed until 2008’s winter holiday season in an effort to increase the
company’s sales.
