“Lost
and Damned,” the first episodic pack for the action-adventure video game Grand
Theft Auto IV, which is slated for release on February 17, 2009, has finally been revealed and detailed.
The episode, which will be made available for download exclusively
to owners of the Xbox 360 version of the game, is said to star member of
Liberty City biker gang The Lost Johnny Klebitz.
GTA IV, the ninth title in the Grand Theft Auto series developed by Edinburgh-based Rockstar
North, was released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 gaming consoles on April
29 this year in Australia, Europe and North America, while the video game hit
Japan markets October 30.
It starred war veteran Niko Bellic, an Eastern European man
in search of the American dream who ends up trapped in a world of gangs, crime
and corruption. The game sold 3.6 million units on its debut day-an industry
record-while during the first week after it was released, revenue was reported
at $500 million, with sales of approximately 6 million units worldwide.
Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for
Rockstar Games, has revealed that „Lost and Damned’s” star Johnny Klebitz was
completely different from Bellic, coming from another background to show via
this first episode a whole other side of Liberty City, the fictional city where
GTA IV is set.
Nevertheless, he refused to disclose further details about
the episodic pack, by fear he would give away too much of the game's plot.
In order for gamers to download the „Lost and Damned,” they
need to have the full version of the Mature-rated GTA IV and also an Xbox Live membership.
