Grammy Nominations

The annual Grammy Awards will be aired tonight at 7 on KCNC-Channel 4. The show is situated somewhere beneath the Oscars and above the People's Choice Awards in terms of viewership therefore it is often called "music's biggest night." The Grammys are the most prestigious music awards in the world.

Many artists are expected to be awarded with a Grammy, among who Leona Lewis. Her “Bleeding Love" became one of the biggest songs of the year, featuring tight production from Colorado's own Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic.

For the Album of the Year category Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” seems to be the perfect candidate since it turned into a solid release that was truly explosive when played live. Chris Martin's band has been nominated for seven of the prestigious musical honors.

The genius, pop-oriented hip-hop track from M.I.A. called "Paper Planes," was one of the biggest success stories of the year and the artist and her producer, Diplo, deserve every bit of the recognition.

Former Led Zeppelin front-man Robert Plant is nominated alongside American bluegrass star Alison Krauss. Their album, “Raising Sand,” is also in the running for best contemporary folk album.

Radiohead closely follows Coldplay in the number of nominations. Their album, “In Rainbows,” is up for five awards including album of the year and best alternative album.

This year’s most nominations belong to Lil Wayne, eight in total, for his album “Tha Carter III.”

Jason Mraz’ “I’m Yours” might just become the song of the year since it represents only a small part of the artist’s success who is also the only songwriter credited on this song.

Other nominees in different categories are Adele with “Chasing Pavements,” Robert Plant and Alison Krauss with "Please Read the Letter," Ne-Yo with "Year of the Gentleman."

The Grammys ceremony is held at Staples Centre in downtown Los Angeles, and will feature a number of performances from many artists.
