Google has recently released an application for the iPhone which basically allows users to simply speak their search requests or commands.
The app makes use of iPhone’s motion detector, which lets the phone know that it must record when it’s brought to the ear and stop the recording when the user puts the phone down. Google has also implemented options for those who don’t want to use their voice but who would rather type in their searches. The software can also be controlled through the virtual keyboard that appears on the screen of Apple’s phone. The program can also detect the city you’re in and give relevant results according to this information. This is very helpful especially is one is looking for entertainment or plane tickets.
The software is still not available on Apple App Store and it seems that Google, the biggest company on the net, is waiting for Apple’s approval.
Basically, the program developed by Google is not something completely new under the sun, but it manages to stand out by successfully perfecting features related to voice activated programs. First of all, Google’s app knows when to listen to commands as it bases its decisions on iPhone’s motion sensor. This means that when speaking to your phone, the whole action will seem a little bit more natural, the user not being forced to open the application in order to speak into it.
The new iPhone app from Google also manages to link more services together like Gmail, Google News or Google Maps.
