Google is accusing Microsoft of breaching a US legal settlement. It’s Windows Vista versus Google Search.
Not that long ago, in April, Google filed a 50-page complaint with the US Department of Justice, claiming that users of Windows Vista, Microsoft’s latest operating system, face difficulties if they install the Google search tool, as the Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper said Microsoft rejected the complaint.
Both Google and Windows Vista include software that allows a user to search their personal computer for certain data stored on their hard drives.
After previous complaints, Microsoft is bound by an antitrust settlement with state and federal antitrust authorities.
Google has accused Microsoft of dominating with its OS. Google claims Vista worked slower if consumers used rival desktop-search applications provided by Google and others, as the Vista desktop search is almost impossible to disable.
The accusations run both ways though, with Microsoft saying Google is dominating in advertising. Microsoft asked anti-trust authorities to prevent Google's acquisition two months ago of DoubleClick.
