Google: Lost City Of Atlantis Was Not Found On Google Earth

Google denied the rumor that it discovered Atlantis was discovered on Google Earth.

For those of you ho do not know, Atlantis is the legendary island first mentioned by Greek philosopher Plato that supposedly sunk into the ocean in a single day and night around 9000 BC.,

The rumors about what would be a monumental discovery appeared after a British aeronautical engineer, Bernie Bamford, told The Sun that while using the Google Earth 5.0, he had seen a grid of lines undersea off the coast of West Africa, the area where the legendary island supposedly sunk.

However, those lines are in fact sonar data collected from boats and have nothing to do with Atlantis. Google said in a statement that although many discoveries were made through Google Earth (such as the Mozambique pristine forest home to previously unknown species and the remains of an Ancient Roman villa), this is not the case.

"In this case…what users are seeing is an artifact of the data collection process. Bathymetric (or sea floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea floor," the giant Web search company said in the statement.

However, there are many who aren’t convinced that the grid lines that resemble a pattern of a street grid aren’t in fact the streets of the lost city.

According to Plato’s dialogues Timaeus and Critias, Atlantis was a naval super power, an advanced civilization, a very wealthy city that was also well known for its beauty.
