Google launched Chrome Experiments, a site destined to showcase the capabilities of the company’s Web browser and especially the one which helps Chrome run Web-based programs written in JavaScript smoother.
The Chrome Experiments site was launched just one day after Google unveiled the new Beta version of the Chrome. The new version is allegedly 25% to 35% faster than the initial release, the Web search behemoth said.
Google Experiments is destined to showcase what Chrome browser and V8 JavaScript engine can do. The site features a series of JavaScript apps, 15 games and visualizations written in JavaScript.
To build these experiments, Google reached out to well-known Web designers and JavaScript developers such as REAS, Mr. Doob, Ryan Alexander, Josh Nimony and Toxi. The designers and developers posted the applications on Google Experiments, the company said.
“Their [Web designers] work is making the Web faster, more fun, and more open -- the same spirit in which we built Google Chrome," Google said.
When users enter the site via a Web browser other than the Google Chrome, they are warned that they should launch the experiment in Chrome because in other browsers it may run slower or crash.
I experiment the Ball Pool application using the Safari 4 Beta and it worked without any problems. In other browsers it worked as well, with some small faults though. In the Internet Explorer 8 it did not work at all, but I took according to
