A new feature program by Google helps you avoid embarrassing
situations after a drinking party. Mail Goggles, available at Google Labs, is
trying to prevent you from sending an e-mail you normally wouldn’t send. The
application proposes a few math questions that need to be solved within seconds
and, if you’re drunk, you shouldn’t pass the test and Google will stop you from
sending the e-mail.
By default, the program is scheduled to work on Friday and
Saturday nights, but the user can set it to work in every day of the week.
Also, the difficulty of the math problems can be modified by the user. If you
get any of the questions wrong, Google will tell you, "Water and bed for
you. Or try again."
Google has received high marks from the tech researcher
Gartner for e-mail security and it is now working on other enhancements for
Gmail, including a user’s ability to work without being connected to the
Internet.
On Google groups, one funny suggestion involved putting a straight
line on-screen and required the person to “walk” on it with the mouse. To turn
this feature on, simply log on to your Gmail account and check the “labs” page
on the “settings” menu.
Of course, this application won’t work if the user
doesn’t decide to activate the option before going to a party. All in all, it’s
another program that’s trying to fight the negative effects of alcohol, but
this time in a rather funny way.
