Rhode Island Company CVS Caremark Corp. said it has expanded its partnership with Google Health by providing CVS/pharmacy customers with the ability to securely download their prescription and medication histories to their Google Health account.
“With the recent addition of CVS/pharmacy to our network of pharmacy partners, more than 100 million people can now access their prescription history online and import it into a central, secure place — a Google Health Account,” Maneesh Arora, a product manager with Google Health, wrote in a blog post.
“Having a list of all your medications all in one place from the pharmacies you shop at helps your doctor, pharmacist and other care providers do a better job of taking care of you,” Arora added.
With the new deal, Google believes it will improve patient safety, reduce medical errors, and increase efficiencies in health care.
Google Health was officially launched in May last year enabling patients to upload medical records from organizations, enter their own data and create their own profile, search for viable information on health conditions or ask for a second opinion on their diagnosis. The program is free to users and available online at
www.google.com/health.
Google Health also works with several other pharmacies Walgreens, Drug Fair, Longs, RX America, Medco, and Meijer.
